GARY BAKER

Gary Baker was born on December 2, 1963, in North Vancouver, BC.  He is a representative of the Squamish Nation of the Coast Salish peoples.  Gary’s family crests are the Thunderbird and the Killerwhale.

Gary began carving at the age of 14 years and is mainly self-taught, although he does work with and has been influenced by Darren Yelton, Cody Mathias and Richard Baker.

Gary mainly works in yellow cedar and enjoys the hardness of this wood, which lends itself to his crisp and detailed carving style.  Gary’s work is in many personal collections worldwide.  Appleton Galleries is fortunate to work with a talented artist such as Gary Baker.
