MEDICINE WHEEL 

The symbol of the Medicine Wheel is divided into four parts (or four ‘spokes’). These can represent:

the 4 directions (North, South, East, West)
the 4 quarters
the 4 seasons (Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter)
 

Or, more specifically relating to the human  condition: 
the 4 parts of Man: Body, Mind, Spirit, Soul
the 4 senses on the face: Sight, Smell, Hearing, Taste

the 4 stages of Man:
Infant (represented by the ‘egg’ on the left spoke)
Child (represented by the closed top spoke)
Adult (represented by the right opening spoke)
Elder (represented by the bottom, open spoke)
